Award of contracts for social and other specific services

Overview

This regulation provides that public contracts for social and certain specific services should be awarded in accordance with section 7 (social and other specific services) of the PCR 2015 (otherwise known as the ‘Light Touch Regime’).

The specific services referred to in this regulation (i.e. regulation 74) are contained in schedule 3 (social and other specific services) of the PCR 2015 and include certain:

  • health, social and related services
  • administrative social, education, healthcare and cultural services;
  • benefit services
  • religious services
  • hotel and restaurant services
  • legal services
  • prison related services, and
  • postal services.

Objective at this commercial stage

Regulation 74 and section 7 will apply to the award of public contracts for social and certain specific services listed in schedule 3 PCR.

Key considerations at this commercial stage

Contracting authorities should:

  • ensure that the subject matter of any contracts are reviewed and consideration is given to whether regulation 74 and section 7 apply.
