Quality assurance standards and environmental management standards

Overview

This regulation provides rules relating to the quality standards and environmental management systems and standards. These standards should be based on relevant European standards and certified by accredited bodies.

Objective at this commercial stage

Where the contracting authority requires certification of certain quality assurance systems and environmental management standards, it should ensure that these are based on relevant European standards and certified by accredited bodies.

Key considerations at this commercial stage

Contracting authorities should:

  • ensure that its due diligence requests relating to quality assurance and environmental management systems or standards, do not exceed the requirements as set out in this regulation (i.e. regulation 62)
  • ensure that suppliers are permitted to submit other evidence of equivalent quality assurance measures where they have no possibility of obtaining specified certificates within the relevant time limits
  • ensure that suppliers are permitted to demonstrate other evidence of environmental management measures where they have no access to specified certificates within the relevant time limits.

There is no direct equivalent section in the Procurement Act 2023
