Quality assurance standards and environmental management standards

Overview

This regulation provides rules relating to the quality standards and environmental management systems and standards. These standards should be based on relevant European standards and certified by accredited bodies.

Objective at this commercial stage

The requirements of this regulation must be taken into account whenever there is a need for certification in relation to certain quality assurance systems and environmental management standards.

Key considerations at this commercial stage

Contracting authorities should:

  • ensure that any certification requirements relating to quality assurance and environmental management standards are designed in accordance with the requirements set out in this regulation (i.e. regulation 62)
  • ensure that the procurement documents enable suppliers to submit other evidence of equivalent quality assurance measures where the supplier has no possibility of obtaining specified certificates within the relevant time limits
  • ensure that the procurement documents enable suppliers to demonstrate other evidence of environmental management measures where the supplier has no access to specified certificates within the relevant time limits.

There is no direct equivalent section in the Procurement Act 2023
